Bard Compositions

What is a Composition?
•    The Composition is the Bard’s ability to influence her listeners through music, song, poetry, oratory,  prose or even comedy. The player gets to decide what kind of composition she will perform, although it is still  subject to GM approval. All Compositions must be submitted to logistics to get looked over before being used.  Compositions should be immersive to the setting. Modern songs can be used so long as they are repurposed to be  immersive.
•    In order to use a Composition, the Bard must have possess the appropriate Wyrdic Cipher or have learned a  Composition (spending 3 build to do so). A Wyrdic Cipher cannot be shared among multiple Bards while it is being  used in a performance. Each performing Bard must possess his own Wyrdic Cipher or have internalized the Composition  being performed.

Who is affected by a Composition?
•    The Bard can elect to affect herself or not by her own composition.
•    Anyone who was there at the start of the Composition, stays until its end and listens intently to the  Bard’s performance gains the benefit of the Composition. Audience members must be able to see and hear the Bard  from the performance’s start to finish.
•    Generally speaking, Compositions cannot be used in combat due to the distractions that such a situation  delivers.

What is a Short or Long Composition?

•    A Short Composition must be at least 1 minute in length.
•    A Long Composition must be at least 5 minutes its length.

When can a Bard use a Composition?
•    A Bard can only perform one composition every hour. Two or more bards can join forces to perform together.  At the end of their performance, they can each bestow their own effect upon the crowd although duplicate effects  will overlap.
•    Bards or their audience cannot benefit from a Composition when combat is happening within sight or sound of  the performance. The use of a Composition while the danger of combat is around will result in a performance that  expends the Bard’s once per hour limit without any of the Composition’s benefits.
•    If the performance of a Bard is interrupted by combat or by something happening to the Bard that renders  him unable to perform in mid-performance, the Bard or Bards performing the Composition are considered to have used  up their Composition for the hour. Bards should be selective and careful regarding their audience and environment  to prevent this from happening.

How can Bards cooperate in a performance?
•    Up to five Bards may participate in the performance of a single Composition (provided they all have learned  the Composition or have the Wyrdic Cipher) and some Compositions have additional effects based on such Cooperation.
•    Participating in a performance counts against the once-per-hour limit that Bards have for Compositions  (unless that particular Composition does not expend that limit).
•    If multiple Bards are performing different Compositions in a single performance, each Composition may have  a maximum of 5 performers. (Example: with 8 performers, 5 can perform Soothing Composition while the other 3 can  perform Inspiring Composition in the same performance).
