Thief

THE PATH OF THE THIEF

Tier 1

Requires:

–          0 Build

–          Must possess the Blade Proficiency skill.

–          Must possess the Camouflage, Dirty Fighting (rank 1) or Mocking Words skill. These Skills and Feats may be substituted by Skills that replicate Camouflage or a Spell/Feat that replicates Mocking Words.

–          You must endure at least one month of training (including at least 10 minutes, during an Event) from a Trainer (NPC or PC) who has achieved the level 10 Class Feature for Assassin, Scoundrel or Swashbuckler.

Benefits:

A) You may now learn Basic Rogue Skills (except for Mastery Skills) and Basic Rogue Feats.

B) Furthermore, whenever you use the Dodge feat, it only requires 1 SP instead of 2 SP. You still need to learn the Dodge feat and all other requirements still need to be followed.

C) You are trained in one of the options below, based on your Trainer’s sub-class.

–          Assassin: Furthermore, you can observe an enemy for at least 60 seconds, moving no faster than a slow walk and saying “Studying 1, Studying 2…Studying 60”. Any damage or Control effect you receive disrupts this process – at the end of this, you may perform 1 Assassinate feat for free (0 SP) upon the enemy you have studied. Preface this Assassinate with “Expert” (e.g. “Expert Assassinate 10 damage!”). This Assassinate costs you 0 SP to perform but must be performed within 30 seconds after completing your study and it must be your next melee attack.

–          Scoundrel: You learn the Evade feat for no Build cost. Also, when you use the Flee the Scene feat, you only need 5 seconds of running instead of 10 seconds.

–          Swashbuckler: If you are using a one-handed blade, such as a longsword, shortsword or dagger, your normal attacks inflict 1 additional point of damage. This is an Expertise bonus and does not stack with other Expertise bonuses.

Tier 2

Requires:

–          10 Build

–          You must endure at least one month of training (including at least 10 minutes, during an Event) from a Trainer (NPC or PC) who has achieved the level 10 Class Feature for Assassin, Scoundrel or Swashbuckler.

Benefits:

A) You gain ONE of the following skills below, if you do not have it yet:

  • Dual-weapon Expertise skill
  • Einhander Expertise skill

B) You gain one of the following below based on your Trainer’s Rogue Sub-class.

–          Assassin: Whenever you use the Camouflage skill and you voluntarily break the Camouflage upon yourself before you are detected, you gain a free (0 SP) use of the Waylay feat. Preface the Control effect with “Expert” (e.g. “Expert Confuse 30”). A Feat may only receive one Augment or Modification at a time.

–          Scoundrel: Whenever you perform a Backstab attack with a Dagger weapon, your Backstab deals +2 additional damage. This stacks with the bonuses from Pincer Strike and the Dirty Fighting skill. Also, you can perform ranged Backstab attacks with ranged weapons. If you can perform Sneak Attacks, you may choose instead to Dirty Fighting bonuses to your Sneak Attack ability.

–          Swashbuckler: When you successfully hit with the Mocking Words feat, whether your target resists it or not, your normal melee attacks gain bonuses to damage at some cost to your striking speed. When attacking in melee like this, preface your damage with “Flourish” (e.g. “Flourish! 5 damage!”). However, you instead inflict the same amount of damage that you would with a “Backstab” attack, which includes the bonuses from the Dirty Fighting skill. You can no longer use this bonus if you attack a different target or after 10 minutes has passed.

–          If you personally bring the target of your Mocking Words feat to 0 HP before 10 minutes has passed, you regain the SP you spent on Mocking Words.
