What’s an IGE?

IGE simply stands for Interactive Gaming Environment.

What is an IGE? Imagine yourself creating a character that only you’ve dreamed of. Think along the lines of damsel in distress or the brave knight in shining armor on his white steed. If you feel a little darker, how about the demonic witch or a blood-splattered troll who has a thing for kittens? The onlything stopping you is your imagination… and the rules of the game.

The game described is the Interactive Gaming Environment that Seventh Kingdom staff works hard to provide for you, our player. You can literally become your character by dressing, talking, and acting like him/her. Once you’ve become your character, this environment includes potential: treasures, quests, puzzles, traps, victory, and defeat. This is created all for you to interact with emotionally and more importantly physically!

IGE’s concept sounds closely related to LARPing. To a certain and small point, this is so.

LARP stands for Live Action Role Play–a broad term which can really mean so many things. Seventh Kingdom is LARPing to a degree… but when you sit around your kitchen table with your

d20 and kill your mother’s sister, is that not LARPing? When you show up to a murder mystery dinner and find out your husband is the murderer, is that not LARPing? LARPing is not Live Action Run Around In The Woods Dressed Up And Kill Things Playing… it is just implied. IGE is a step up from LARPing.

LARPing these days also seems to have a negative connotation to it. Common perception touts that LARPing is geeky, stupid, lame, and boring. Who decided that? If someone one day decided that football was dorky and the world agreed, would you follow? Why, because they said so? Actors on the screen and stage… are they dorky? Because last time we checked, Megan Fox was not dorky. Perhaps you say it’s because what we do is fantasy based… seems the MILLIONS of people who love Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars don’t have a problem with fantasy.

Why not break free of forever getting weird looks when you first mention LARPing?

Seventh Kingdom decided that it is time to start a new era of ‘LARPing.’ That term was coined back in 1970s; let’s start a new age! Interested in joining us? We’d love to have you.
