The list of the current Envoys can be found here.
— Properly represent their Kingdom’s ideals in word and action.
— Have an in-depth knowledge of their Kingdom and its various Power Groups
— Be willing to put their Kingdom above their own self-interests and even self-preservation.
— Be reliable and uncompromised. This may preclude certain classes or characters with “shared souls” from being Envoys, but not from being Hands.
— Advancing and protecting Kingdom interests, with priority given to “Crown” or “Throne” interests. This includes assisting “loyal citizens” of the Kingdom within reasonable measures.
— Balancing the above with the de-escalation of inter-Kingdom war (unless contradictory orders have been given)
— Reporting to their superiors or primary contact every Moon regarding:
- the Events in Freehold
- activities of Kingdom citizens
- any other information that may be of interest.
— Being in Freehold as often as possible or delegating a Hand to monitor it for you.
— Conducting one’s self properly for one’s Kingdom and representing the Kingdom’s ideals.
— An additional 1 point of Patronage (see Kingdom standing)
— Significant advancement of Kingdom interests may merit additional rewards.
— The appointment of up to three Hands to assist you in serving your Kingdom and/or act as your Proxy. Supporting and financing Hands is the job of the Envoy.
— Envoys that disappear from Freehold for an extended amount of time (2-3 moons at least) without notifying their superiors or without proper reasons will find themselves removed from their post.
— Envoys found guilty of working against their Kingdom interests may find themselves removed from their position in addition to other sanctions or punishments.
— Envoys that are derelict in their duties may have their pay suspended, their Kingdom item suppressed or even be removed from office.
— Envoys and Hands may lose their position if their Kingdom decides to remove them for any reason, including granting them a different task or office.
— Envoys and Hands may choose to retire from their office, with the former receiving a substantial exit package for their services. Depending on the “climate” of their exit, they may be prevented from working any other offices for their Kingdom.
— Hands can be removed from their position by their Envoys.
— Hands may be assigned a duty or task by their Envoy, be it writing a report or acting as their Envoy’s proxy.
— Hands may also be given awards by their Kingdom, directly or through their Envoy.
— Any actionable offense done by a Hand is considered to be done by their Envoy unless corrected by the Envoy and sufficient reparations are made.
— deeper participation with inter-Kingdom politics
— to help shepherd new Players to the game who have joined their Kingdom
— a willingness to face peril in order to advance their Kingdom’s interests
— a willingness to take up the burden of responsibility and leadership for their fellow citizens.
For those who wish to serve their Kingdom and not face as many restrictions, the office of the Hand is available.
– to assist and serve the members of their Kingdom
– conduct themselves with honor and dignity
– act as their Kingdom’s voice to its people.
– advance and protect their Kingdom’s interests
Naturally, the myriad cultures of each Kingdom will interpret these tenets differently or put greater emphasis in some aspects rather than others. A Labyrinithum Envoy may focus on the advancement of Kingdom interests rather than the welfare of its people. Similarly, an Ixian Envoy may employ the exact opposite in priorities.
Envoys may have one or several Hands to assist them in their task. The work of a Hand can be dangerous and is often thankless; usually, they are given the task of an Envoy but without the protections or the authority of that office. Furthermore, they are answerable to their Envoy and their Kingdom.
